It was a special weekend for quiz bowl teams in our district. The team from Waukee High School captured the Iowa Quiz Bowl League – Large School State Championship. The team consisted of Miles Sierra, Mrithuul Prasath Madan Prasad, Sai Rayasam and Graham Truman. This is the 5th Quiz Bowl State Championship in Waukee High School history. Northwest High School finished runner-up in the same division. The team from Prairieview captured the JV state championship.

There were a total of 36 teams representing 19 schools from across the state who participated in Saturday’s state competition. It was the largest in-person tournament in Iowa Quiz Bowl League History. Waukee High School Alum Ben Heidt (Class of 2017) was the Tournament Director.
